Privacy Statement

In accordance with GDPR, I adhere to taking your privacy very seriously.

Your Personal Details

Sessions are confidential and this applies also to my record keeping:

· Contact details are kept separate from session notes.

· Session notes are stored securely/locked away.

· When working online, I use an appropriately secure service and ensure that we cannot be overheard and that my screen cannot be seen by others.

· Records are kept for 7 years after we end our work together, after which time, they are securely destroyed.

· You have a right to view my records at any time and to request correction or erasure.

· Whilst we work together, your name and contact number will also be held by a counselling colleague (also stored securely) – this will be the person getting in touch with you in the event of my sudden incapacity or death.

Confidentiality and Exceptional Circumstances

Below are the range of situations in which confidentiality may have to be broken:

1. It is felt appropriate to involve other professionals such as your GP where there is risk of harm to either yourself or a third party.

2. I am compelled by a court of law.

3. Statutory law requires me to inform the appropriate authority e.g. drug trafficking, terrorism or abuse of a child/vulnerable adult.

4. You, as the client, give consent.

Supervision

I attend supervision monthly for both counselling and coaching and the utmost care is taken to preserve anonymity.

Code of Ethics

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association for Coaching (AC). I adhere to both organizations’ code of ethics.

Consent

If we decide to work together, I will ask you to sign a contract which will include consent of the above.
